SOME VERIFIED INDICATIONS FROM MY PRACTICE

I am happy to share some verified indications from my 15 years practice. Most of the drugs in our materia medica have got hundreds of indications, taken from the original sources, also from other sources such as clinical provings and experience of many physicians. Here I am sharing some indications of the drugs, repeatedly verified in many cases. When we refer Repertories, we see so many drugs mentioned under the rubrics, but in practice, some medicines are found more beneficial, especially when those medicines cover all the components of the symptoms.

1. “Once a patient having Lichen plannus told me, “Doctor, I feel very difficult to urinate in public toilets, especially when people are behind”. This case was cured by Natrum mur (Cant pass urine in front of others).

2. We often get children having constipation. The mother will say, “doctor, he passes stool very rarely, does not even have a desire to go to washroom”. Opium is found very beneficial (Constipation with no desire to pass stool.)

3. We have many drugs for travel sickness. Those cases with nausea and vomiting while looking at the moving objects, found responding wonderfully to Coccolus.

4. When a middle aged man says, “doctor, I have more desire for sex, but I feel weak to perform”, consider Lycopodium. 

5. Dullness, dizziness and drowsiness with thirstlessness - Gelsemium (works better when some neurological problems like trembling or weakness present as a concomitant).

6. Nausea and vomiting with clean tongue, and the nausea not relieved even after vomiting. I have verified Ipecac many times, if the tongue is milky coated, consider Antim crud.

7. Cough at night preventing sleep, no relief from the other indicated drugs like Drosera, Hepar, Rumex etc. Believe me friends, Hyoscyamus has helped me many times.

8. I have successfully managed a few Obstructive Sleep Apnea cases using our medicines (OSA is a dangerous condition that can make the victims prone to heart attack, stroke, etc). Out of which, a few cases specifically told me that “intolerance of constriction around neck, also obstructed feeling awakens them from sleep at night”. Lachesis helped me in three cases. One or two cases, responded well to Laurocerasus Q. Also consider cactus in such cases.

9. When a patient says, “doctor I get vertigo while turning head”, first I think about Conium mac, the great remedy that killed Socrates.

10. When the finger gets crushed, think about Hypericum, which has even managed cases failed to respond to painkillers. Similarly, when you send someone for circumcision (either on religious or medical grounds), do not forget to give a few doses of Hypericum, which can reduce pains, prevent suppuration, also help fast healing.

11. When a patient says, “doctor, I cant tolerate the smell of cooking, especially fish”, think about Colchicum, which has helped me many times. So those who visit Kerala and Goa can carry this remedy as they can feel only fishy smell in both these places :)

12. Once I had an asthma case, which was failed to respond to the seemingly indicated drugs, tried one after the other. Finally, the patient was asked to give more details for a better remedy, though he felt unimportant initially, told me, "doctor, I feel better after defecation”. Pothos (Ictodes F) cured that case, who later referred many asthma cases to me.

13. When an Hyperactive Airway Syndrome case (new term for all types of breathlessness cases) comes with an aggravation after taking watery fruits, think about two remedies, Natrum sulph and Ars alb. On further case taking, you can easily differentiate both.

14. When a delivered mother comes to you with painful cracked nipples, consider one remedy, which is not usually considered like Graphites, silicea, Phytolacca and all. It is Castor equi, which helped me even in cases in which the gynecologist started scratching her head!

15. Suppose one crying baby having colic is brought to you. If the baby stops crying when you keep the palm on abdomen while examining, think about colocynth. This indication has helped me many times.

16. Fever with cough and dry tongue, associated with stitching pain in the chest while coughing, is often an indication towards Bryonia.

17. A patient comes with history of Chest infection, now having a weak feeling in chest, cant speak a sentence without taking another breath. Expectoration is yellowish. Think about Stannum met.

18. Pain and obstructed feeling at the frontal sinus area, with stringy discharge is often benefited by Kali bich. If the same kind of post nasal discharge is present, consider Hydrastis Can.

19. Any suppuration with irritability and sensitivity to touch and cold, consider Hepar Sulph.

20. Stiffness and pain of joints with a history of lifting heavy weights is often benefited by Rhustox.

21. A secondary stage of infection with Eustachian catarrh, associated with white coated tongue is often a call for Kali muriaticum.

22. A newly married woman comes with UTI, Staphysagria is of great use.

Let me make clear that my intention is not to make you specific prescribers, but to consider the importance of frequently verified symptoms of our materia medica.
